Volvo 140/164 Front/Rear windscreen wiper

A wiper motor that runs sluggishly, stops mid-sweep or buzzes without the arms moving is a classic fault on the 140 and 164 – and the answer depends on the chassis number. Early and later cars came with wiper assemblies from different manufacturers (SWF and Electrolux respectively), which determines the motor mounting, linkage and connections. That is why the part groups are split by chassis range and model year. On the estate (145) there is also a rear wiper in its own series, with its own changeover date around 1973.
