Vibrations from the fan assembly or a fan that has started to rub against the cover can point to worn mounting points rather than the fan blade itself. On the B20 engines in the 140 Series, the fan sits on a clutch flange in front of the water pump, and the mounting in particular is a common checkpoint when overhauling the cooling system.
