When the seal lets go, the oil level in the differential drops, and in the worst case the bearings start to howl. The group includes oil seals and gaskets for the pinion and differential cover, bearings, shims for setting the gear backlash, washers, grease, inspection cover and a sealing plug. When replacing a seal it is worth checking the pinion bearing preload and the tooth contact pattern at the same time – new shims are often needed to get the right clearance after the flange nut has been loosened.
The parts are intended for the Spicer version and differ from the later ENV hypoid axle, so check which rear axle the car actually has before ordering.
