Carburetor Volvo PV/Duett Zenith VN34 (B16A) (1957-61)
Uneven idle, poor throttle response or a smell of gas from the carburetor are classic signs of dried-out gaskets and a float that isn't holding the correct level. On the B16A with a single Zenith VN34 (1583cc, fitted from the 444 in 1957 and in the early 544), most of the wear sits in the seals, spring tension and bushings around the throttle shaft.
