Front suspension Volvo 544/210 (1962-68)
Play in the steering wheel, clunks over speed bumps and uneven tire wear usually start with worn control arm bushings and dry grease nipples. On the 544 and 210 with strut-free front suspension, coil springs and Delco telescopic dampers carry the full load, and when the rubber in the control arms has dried out the wheel angles wander.

This group includes bushings and bushing kits, complete control arm kits, bearing bolts, washers, rubber buffers and repair kits, plus grease nipples to keep the joints alive. The washers and bearing bolts control preload and play in the control arm joint, while the rubber buffers catch the impact at the suspension's end stop.
When rebuilding the front suspension it's smart to replace the upper and lower bushings in pairs and check the wear surfaces of the bearing bolts at the same time – otherwise a new rubber will quickly wear itself out against a worn bolt. Grease the nipples after installation so the joints last longer.
