Crankshaft Volvo B16

During a full rebuild of the B16 engine (1583 cc, 60–85 bhp in the 444 from 1957 and the 544 1958–1961), it is the rotating and reciprocating assembly that determines the result. Worn pistons, loose rod bearings and fatigued main bearings cause low oil pressure, knocking and increased oil consumption – typical reasons to disassemble and measure up.

This group includes piston sets and piston ring sets to restore compression and oil control, rod bearing sets and main bearing sets in standard and undersizes per grinding dimensions, plus flywheel bearings. For sealing work there are seals and gaskets, and timing gear sets for the valve timing drive. Common check points during assembly are main bearing clearance, crankshaft end float and the correct undersize against ground bearing journals – the B16 has older journal dimensions than the later B18, so dimensions and sets must match this specific engine.
