Starter Volvo PV/Duett (B18)
Sluggish, grinding engagement or a solenoid that just clicks are common signs of tired brushes and worn bushings in the starter motor. The B18 engines run a 12V system – the change from 6 to 12 volts happened in 1961/62 together with the B18 – so check that the starter motor is the correct voltage before replacing anything.
