Rear light Volvo PV 544 (1958-66)

A cracked rubber seal lets moisture in behind the lens and causes green corrosion on the base, which is often the explanation for rear lights that flicker or go out. On the 544 it's also worth keeping an eye on the voltage: the car was built both with a 6-volt system and, from 1961, with 12 volts – the bulb base may look the same but the wattage differs, so a 6V bulb in a 12V car burns out quickly.

This group includes bulbs, rubber seals and bezels for the lights as well as wiring, gasket and mounting kits with screw, nut and washer. These are the same parts you go through when restoring the rear lighting – from bulb replacement and sealing to completely rewiring an aged cable. If you search for part numbers like 658398 or 658399, they belong in this group for the rear lighting.

During the job, typical checkpoints are to clean rust from the light mounting, replace brittle rubber and secure the ground point so the light becomes stable again.
