A hand brake that won't hold the car on a hill often starts with a stretched or binding hand brake cable, a cracked gaiter that has let in moisture, or a worn hand brake eyelet in the lever. On the 210 with the B16 engine, the hand brake acts on the rear drum brakes, and a cable that has rusted fast in its sleeve gives sticky grip and poor return – one of the most common checkpoints during a brake overhaul. This category gathers parts for the hand brake specifically: hand brake cables, the gaiter and hand brake gaiter that protect the mechanism, the hand brake eyelet, plus small parts such as screw, clamp, cotter pin and washers for mounting and adjustment. While you have the drums off anyway, it's a good time to check the cable routing and that the gaiter is intact, so water doesn't collect in the sleeve again.
