Volvo Amazon Steering gear
Play in the steering wheel, slack at the center position, or a steering box dripping oil are classic signs of a worn steering gear. The 122 uses a worm-and-ball-roller type steering box that should be checked and filled with SAE 80 hypoid oil at regular intervals – running it dry or with a misadjusted worm wears quickly and gives an uneven feel. The selection covers steering boxes split by engine generation (B16, B18 and B20) since the design differs between model years, plus idler arms in versions for B16 and B18/B20 respectively.
