A slippery rubber pad or a brake lamp that doesn't switch on in time are common wear points on the 850 pedal. The contact in the pedal anchorage controls the brake lamp and can cause play or loss of function as it ages, while a worn rubber pad makes the footing slippery under hard braking. This category gathers wear and mounting parts for the brake pedal on the Volvo 850 built up to 1996 (HST).

The group includes the rubber pad, brake light contact, nut and lock brace. During installation it's worth checking that the lock brace and nut are seated correctly so the pedal doesn't develop play in the anchorage. On the 850 this is connected to the main brake and pipe lines in a system with disc brakes all around – if the brake light contact is in the wrong position it shows directly on the brake lamp. Always check the model year and chassis number against the 1996 cutoff before ordering.
