A worn rubber pad that starts to smooth out, or brake lamps that light up irregularly, are common checkpoints on an 850 with a few years behind it. This category gathers the wear parts around the brake pedal on the Volvo 850 up to 1996 – not the pedal arm itself as a product, but the details that keep it working.

The group includes the rubber pad for better foot grip, the brake lamp contact that controls the stop lamps, plus the lock brace, band and nut that secure and position the mechanism. When the brake lamp contact has play, the light can stay on constantly or fail entirely – a checkpoint worth going through before you suspect a larger fault. Since the 850 has disc brakes all round and a hydraulic system, the pedal feel should be firm; a spongy pedal more often points to air in the system than to the pedal parts. Always check the model year against the chassis range (-1996) so that the anchorage and contact fit.
