Shaking at idle and a thud when you engage a gear can point to tired motor pads – the rubber hardens and cracks over the years, and then the motor's movements carry straight into the body and gearbox. On the four-cylinder B200 (1,986 cc OHC) the motor is suspended in pads that should be checked if the motor sits at an angle or the vibrations increase.

This group includes motor pads, lifting eyes, screws, lock nuts, washers and screw plates – parts that belong together when the mounting is to be replaced or the brackets sealed up. A common check point during replacement is to thread on new lock nuts and washers instead of reusing worn fasteners, so the pad is held firmly at the correct torque. The lifting eyes also make it easier when the motor is to be lifted or supported during the work.
