Coolant leaking under the car or a temperature needle that starts creeping upward often begins with a brittle hose or a tired thermostat. On the 760 with the V6 engine B28, the coolant runs through a branched circuit, and over the years the rubber hoses harden and the clamps lose their tension.

The hose to the water pump is a common replacement point on the V6, as are the thermostat and seals that have dried out.
When overhauling the cooling system, it is wise to check all the hose ends, replace the hose clamps at the same time, and look over the radiator cap seal – a gap there loses pressure and quietly boils away coolant.
