Oil leakage along the cylinder head joint, coolant in the oil, or a rough idle after an overheating are classic signs that the gasket on the 2.1-liter OHC engine B21 has given up. Once the head is off, it pays to check it for flatness and replace the seals in one go, since tightening the cylinder head bolts requires clean, undamaged threads for the correct torque.
