When refurbishing the tailgate it is common to check the hinges for wear, replace the dried-out gasket around the hatch and look over the lock brace so the hatch closes properly. Since the 240 series got its combined designation from model year 1983, the parts here apply to the 245 wagon version within the stated year span – always check against your car.
