Sooty carburetor jets, a rough idle and increased fuel consumption are often signs that the air filter should be checked on an 1800 with the B18 engine and twin SU carburettors. A clogged filter restricts the airflow and upsets the balance between the two carburettors, which makes this group an obvious inspection point during service.
