Luggage Compartments Volvo 1800ES (1972-73)

Rust in the wheel housing and rear section is a classic weak point on the 1800ES with its glass tailgate and low loading edge – moisture collects behind the inner fenders and in the seams around the rear section, especially on cars driven on salted roads. This category gathers sheet metal and sealing parts for restoring the rear body on the shooting brake model 1972-73.

The group includes the wheel housing and brace plate for welding work when the original sheet metal has rusted through, the rear section plus rubber seals that keep moisture away from seams and the hatch opening. There is also a lock and coupling for the tailgate, a flange screw for mounting and gas springs that lift and hold the heavy glass hatch up. Tired gas springs that can no longer hold the hatch are a common and easily remedied wear item on this very ES model.

When restoring the rear section, the lower edge of the wheel housings, the seams of the rear section and the hatch sealing strips are typical check points before the rust spreads further into the underbody.
