Front seat upholstery for Volvo 164, 1975

When trim has to come off and go back on during a restoration, it's often the small parts that run out – brittle fasteners snap, old elastic bands have lost their spring and the seat foam has compacted after decades. This category covers the consumable parts needed to fasten and tension the trim in a 144 again.

The group includes fasteners, screws and body washers for mounting, seat foam that rebuilds seating comfort, elastic bands and springs that give the seats the right firmness, plus a rubber bottom and edge moulding that lock edges and protect against wear. Keep in mind that the cabin changed during production – the instrument panel went from a band-style speedometer to a round design and side impact protection was added in 1972, so always compare with the original part during removal.
A common check point when reassembling is to replace all fasteners at the same time; a single broken anchorage can cause the trim to bulge or come loose at the edge.
