A stiff door opener, a door handle that wobbles or a lock cylinder that sticks in the cold are among the most common wear points on the front doors when a 164 from 1974-75 is being freshened up. The wear is often in the return spring and in the small cross recessed screws that hold the mechanism in place, and a worn lock cylinder means the key has to be wiggled to turn.

This group includes the door handle, lock cylinder, door opener and the springs, screws, washers, cross recessed screws and lock washers that belong to the lock mechanism. The parts are matched to the front doors on the 164 with the later body version that followed the dashboard update in 1973. When refurbishing a door it pays to replace the return spring and cross recessed screws at the same time as the handle, so the mechanism regains its firm position.
