Rusted-through frost plugs and leaking block gaskets are classic problems on the B4B – the 1414cc engine (40 hp, single Carter carburetor) that powered the 444 between 1947 and 1957. After decades in service, old frost plugs often sit and corrode in the coolant passages, and a block rebuild is the right time to replace them along with gaskets and sealing washers.
