When the cabin lighting fails to come on as you open a door, the fault usually lies in a sticky door switch, a cracked bulb socket or play in the door panel end – and which parts fit is determined by model and model year. On the 740/760 the design differs between early cars up to and including 1987 and the later ones from 1988, while the 745 estate and the 780 have their own solutions in the roof and trunk area.
