Radiator hose for Volvo 240, 260, 262, diesel, 1979-93

Sluggish air flaps, a cracked vacuum hose and leaking nipples are classic symptoms when the heater unit in a diesel-powered 240 with A/C no longer switches between defroster, floor and panel as it should. On cars with the D20 and D24 the vacuum is lower than on gas engines, so a tired vacuum bellow or a leaky hose shows up clearly in how the flaps move.

This group includes vacuum bellows, vacuum and water hoses, nipples, plus mounting hardware such as rivets, screws, fasteners, washers and rubber bushings – the parts that hold the flap mechanism in place and keep the controls tight. During a rebuild, the vacuum bellow's diaphragm and the nipples on the hose ends are the first points to check; if the diaphragm cracks or the hose hardens, the system loses vacuum and the flaps stick in one position. Rubber bushings and fasteners are often replaced at the same time to restore play-free, quiet operation.
