Idling compensation Volvo 240 (B230A)
A rough or dropping idle when the A/C, fan or extra load kicks in can point to the idle compensation system on the B230A engine. The solenoid valve lets extra air bypass the shutter and should be checked if the rpm dips – stiff or brittle hose connectors and leaking coupling pieces are common inspection points on cars with many years behind them.
