The group includes the tachometer and speedometer, fuel gauge and temperature gauge, plus the base plate on which the gauge mechanisms are mounted. Wear parts include bulbs, bulb sockets and the plug for lighting and contact – often the cause behind dark gauges or a warning lamp that won't light up.
When reconditioning the instrument housing, the bulb sockets are an obvious checkpoint: oxidized sockets and tired bulbs give flickering lighting before anything is actually broken. Since the design differs between model years, the gauges and base plate should be matched to the car's model year.
