Relay for Volvo 740, 760

A lit ABS light or locking wheels under braking is often caused by a worn wheel sensor, a loose sensor retainer or a brake pressure regulator valve that no longer distributes pressure correctly between the front and rear axle. On the 240/260, the sensors sit exposed near the wheel hubs, where dirt, moisture and vibration wear on both cable and bracket over time.
The subcategories below cover what controls the regulation: wheel sensors and ABS pulse sensors that read wheel speed, the control unit that interprets the signals, the brake pressure regulator valve and retainers for both the ABS cable and wheel sensor. It's a good idea to start troubleshooting at the sensors and contacts before suspecting the control unit.
