Clutch control linkage Volvo 1800 (B20)

A stiff clutch, a scraping noise when the pedal is pressed down, or pedal play that has crept out of spec are classic signs of worn linkage in an 1800 with the B20 engine. This category gathers the parts that transfer the pedal movement on to the clutch and keep the play correct.

The group includes the clutch cable, release bearing, clutch kit plus smaller mounting parts such as bushings, a rubber clamp, screw, washer and nut. When the release bearing starts to make noise it is a natural moment to look over the cable and mountings at the same time, since a loose or misadjusted linkage play gives uneven disengagement and wears the driven plate prematurely.

When overhauling the clutch on a B20 1800, worn bushings and a stretched clutch cable are typical checkpoints – replaced together with the bearing and driven plate, the pedal feel becomes even and the engagement point predictable again.
