When replacing the tank, it pays to renew the grommets and hose clamps at the same time – old rubber grommets harden and crack, which gives a gas smell in the cabin and a risk of leakage at the filler pipe. Also check seals and nipple threads carefully, since minor leaks often occur in the connections rather than in the tank sheet metal.
