Lowering kit sport for Volvo 164 1974-75

A sagging rear end and bouncy ride on poor surfaces are classic signs of tired rear springs and leaking oil shock absorbers on the 164. The heavier straight-six B30 means front and rear loads differ from the four-cylinder 140, so the rear suspension works hard over the years and tends to settle.

The group includes shock absorbers and rear springs plus related parts such as lock nut, spacer, spacer tube, mount and bolt – plus a lowering kit for those who want to change ride height. When refurbishing the rear end it is worth checking the absorbers' upper and lower mounts at the same time, since worn rubber bushings often give the same rattly symptoms as worn-out absorbers.
It is best to replace springs and absorbers in pairs so the rear end sits level.
