Rear suspension Volvo 140/164 (1967-69)

A swaying rear end, squeaking over uneven surfaces and rattling noises in corners usually starts with worn bushings and tired rubber cushions. On the early 140/164 from 1967-69, the rear axle is suspended on torque rods with rubber bushings that harden and crack over the years, giving increased play and poorer tracking.

This group includes bushings, torque rods, rubber cushions plus fasteners such as screw, lock nut, washer, spring washer and bearing bolt – parts that belong together when the entire mounting is to be restored. When overhauling the rear axle suspension, the condition of the bushings and the elasticity of the cushions are typical checkpoints, as is replacing lock nuts and washers during disassembly so the mounting sits tight again. Since model year and version determine the fit, it is worth checking the parts against the car's specification before installation.
