Carburetor Volvo 140 SUHIF (B20B/D) (1971-)

Rough idle, leaking fuel and sluggish throttle response are classic symptoms of a worn SU HIF carburetor. This category gathers rebuild parts that fit the twin-carburetor setup on the Volvo 140 with the B20B from 1971 onwards – parts that address the most common wear points in the float chamber, damper piston and seals.

The group includes floats, jets, seal rings, return springs and damper springs along with screws, bushings and air filters. During a rebuild, the seal rings and float are typical checkpoints – hardened gaskets and a leaking float cause over-richening and a smell of gas, while tired return springs prevent the throttle from closing cleanly. The condition of the jet and damper piston determines how smoothly the mixture follows the revs.

Since the B20B ran with two carburettors, the parts should be checked and adjusted in pairs so that both flow equally. The filters keep dirt away from the sensitive jets and should be replaced at a major service.
