Since the B20 is a push-rod engine, it is the entire chain from the camshaft via the thrust flange and push rods up to the valves that determines how smoothly the engine runs.
A typical check point during cylinder head work is the exhaust valves and their guides – the seats tend to become leaky and the guides develop play, which shows up as blue smoke and lost compression. Fits B20A, B20B, and B20D according to engine code; always check the specification against your cylinder head.
