Sluggish cranking, a weak start or erratic charging on a B16 122 can point to oxidized terminals and a poor earth just as often as to the battery itself. Loose or corroded contacts are a recurring weakness in the early electrical system and should be checked at regular intervals, especially since the B16 cars run on 6 volts – where the voltage drop in a tired earth cable is even less tolerable.
