Rear suspension Volvo 940/960 Multi-link (-1994)

Clunking in the rear end over bumps and a rear end that wanders in corners often points to tired bushings in the multi-link rear axle. On the 960 it is usually the rear control arm bushing that gives way first – a useful diagnostic difference compared with simpler rear axles, where the wear sits at other points.

This group gathers wear and mounting parts for the multi-link rear axle on the 940/960 up to 1994. When refurbishing the rear end, bushings, control arms and brackets are typical inspection points, together with adjustment washers and washers that control geometry and wheel angles. The selection also includes buffers that dampen rebound, plus a screw and safety ring for correct fitting and securing.

Note that the 960 from 1995 got a transverse composite leaf spring in the further developed rear end – the parts here apply to the design before that change.
