Play in the steering wheel, a binding spot in the middle of the travel, or grease that has crept out at the gaiter are common signs of a worn rack-and-pinion steering. On the 740/760 there's a rack-and-pinion gear, and the CAM version specifically differs from the later ZF and Koyo racks – so it's worth checking which make the car has before selecting parts.

The group includes tie rod ends and tie rods that take up play at the outer end of the steering, protective gaiter kits with steering boots that keep dirt and water away from the rack, plus clamps and lock nuts to fix the boots and secure the set toe after fitting.
A cracked gaiter is a typical inspection point – when it lets in moisture the rack can rust and play can increase quickly, so gaiter, clamp and tie rod end should be checked at the same time.
