Front springs Volvo 740/760 (-1984)
A sagging front end and a bouncy, soft ride are classic signs of tired coil springs and worn bushings on the early 740/760 up to 1984. The front end uses MacPherson-type struts, and the tapered bushings in the tie rod are the single biggest wear point on the 700 series – play there shows up immediately as wandering steering and clunks over uneven surfaces.

When rebuilding the front end, it's common to replace the bushings and control arm joints at the same time as the springs, since the wear usually goes hand in hand and affects both wheel angles and driving feel.
