Hand brake Volvo 740/760/780 (Multi-link)
A slack hand brake that has to be pulled several clicks, or a car that rolls on a slope, is classic wear on the 740/760/780. When the brake shoes in the rear disc hubs wear down, the play becomes too large, and then it is rarely enough to simply re-adjust – often it is the adjuster mechanism, cable run, or the handle's lock that has given up.

This group includes parts for the hand brake on cars with the multi-link rear axle that arrived with the 760 revision in 1987: handle, axle and brake adjustment together with door switch, lock nut, retainer, o-ring and washer. During a rebuild, a common check is to loosen the lock nut, reset the brake adjustment, and replace the worn o-ring and washer in the mechanism so the lock holds. The door switch controls the warning lamp and is worth testing at the same time.
