Brake Booster & Master Cylinder
A sinking pedal that slowly travels toward the floor, or a hard pedal with no servo assistance, usually points to the master cylinder or the servo. The servo builds its boost from engine vacuum, so a leaking vacuum hose or a broken check valve is felt immediately as heavier braking. During an overhaul the common parts are master brake cylinders and repair kits for leaking seals, plus the brake servo with its associated gaskets.
