Front seat Volvo 240/260 (1978-)
A seat cushion that has sagged and a backrest foam that has gone hard are classic wear points in the 240 and 260 seats after many miles. When the seat springs tire and the foam packs down, the driver's seat loses both support and the correct seating height – and it is clearly noticeable on long drives. When renovating the front seat, seat foam, seat springs and the nut and wire for tensioning the cushion are typical checkpoints, together with the edge moulding that conceals the seam against the trim. The group also includes retainers and lock washers that hold the spring package and the trim in place. Check that the spring suspension mounts are intact before fitting new foam – otherwise the new cushion will sag again quickly.
