The group includes expansion valves that meter the refrigerant into the evaporator and accumulators that collect liquid and remove moisture – both typical replacement points when the system has been opened or has stood for a long time without refrigerant. There are also tensioning arms, attaching arms and brackets for the compressor, along with clamps, bushings and lock nuts that secure hoses and mounts during installation.
A recurring check point during restoration is the tensioning arm and its bushings: play or wear gives unsteady belt tension and wear on the compressor bearing. When replacing the expansion valve or accumulator the system should always be vacuumed dry and refilled correctly, since moisture in the circuit quickly clogs the valve again.
