Alternator Volvo 240 (B200/B230)
Weak headlamps at idle, a charging light that glows, or a battery that constantly runs flat often point to the alternator. On the Volvo 240 with B200 and B230 engines it is belt-driven on the front of the engine, and wear in the pulley groove or an oxidized cable terminal will just as easily cause a charging fault as a tired diode pack.

A common checkpoint during a rebuild is the pulley itself: a worn or glazed groove lets the belt slip, which lowers the charging voltage even with a healthy alternator. While you're at it, replace oxidized cable terminals and a worn capacitor to keep interference and voltage drops down.
