Play in the steering shaft, a steering column lock that binds, or a sluggish ignition contact are common checkpoints on late 140 cars. The collapsible steering shaft, which was standard on the 140 Series from the start, relies on several small wear parts that keep play and contact function in place.

The group includes nuts, lock nuts, spring, screw and lock ring together with contact frame and contact pin for the steering shaft's electrical contact, plus seat. The parts are limited to the 140 from 1973-74, since the steering shaft's details changed during the production years – so check the chassis number and model year before ordering. During a restoration, the spring and contact pin are typical points to review when the turn signals or ignition positions behave erratically.
