The group includes the tensioner, screw, nut and various washers (wave washer, toothed washer and plain washer) as well as a voltage regulator and complete generators. Toothed washers and wave washers are worth replacing at the same time as the anchorage screw – they prevent the joint from vibrating loose and the tensioner from starting to wobble. A straight, undamaged tensioner is also a prerequisite for setting the belt tension correctly without the generator bearing wearing out prematurely.
When checking the charging, it pays to look over both the mounting and the voltage regulator, since poor contact and play easily cause varying charging voltage on these 12-volt cars.
