Clutch Volvo Amazon (B20)
A clutch pedal that engages high, the smell of a burnt driven plate on a hill, or a growling noise when the pedal is pressed down are common checkpoints on the 122 with the B20 engine, which arrived in August 1968 for the final model years. If the driven plate is worn, it can point to a worn pressure plate or a tired release bearing – both should be checked at the same time since the gearbox has to come out anyway.
