A weak start when the engine is hot, a buzzing pump or incorrect level readings usually lead back here. On the 940/960 both engine and model year determine what fits – the pumps are split between 4-cyl, 6-cyl and the injected B200E/B230E, while the tank volume varies between 60L (-1992), 75L (1993-) and 80L on the multi-link cars. The fuel pressure regulator, fuel pipe and combined tank unit are common troubleshooting and wear points during a pump rebuild.
