Hand brake Volvo 850 (AWD)
A loose hand brake that won't hold the car on a hill can point to worn axles, loose lock rings or leaking seals in the hand brake mechanism. On the 850, the hand brake acts against the rear discs – all 850 models have disc brakes all round according to Volvo's model data – and the AWD version places its own demands on the correct small parts around the driveline.
