Camshaft Kit Volvo B18 & B20 A Cam

Camshaft kit for Volvo B18 and B20 engines with A profile. The camshaft corresponds to Volvo’s original A cam and was factory-fitted in B18A and B20A engines with a single carburettor.

This is an excellent choice if you want to retain the engine’s original character or replace a worn original camshaft with one that follows Volvo’s original specifications.

Important installation information

When replacing the camshaft, new cam followers must always be installed. The camshaft and cam followers must be lubricated with break-in paste (molybdenum disulphide grease) before the first start.

For best durability, engine oil with a zinc additive is recommended during the break-in period.

The warranty is only valid when new cam followers are purchased and installed at the same time.

The camshaft nut must be tightened to a maximum of 80 Nm and is recommended to be secured with Loctite.

Tips when replacing the camshaft

To replace the camshaft, the following components need to be removed:

• Cylinder head
• Front engine cover
• Cam gear
• Fuel pump on engines with carburettors

The engine does not need to be removed from the car. Once the radiator has been removed, the camshaft can be replaced directly in the car on Volvo PV, Duett, Amazon, P1800, 140, 164 and 240.

When the front engine cover is removed, the front edge of the oil pan gasket is often damaged. We therefore recommend replacing the oil pan gasket at the same time, article number 418262.

It is also a good opportunity to upgrade to a front cover with a radial shaft seal, article number 418693.

Also check the camshaft bearings in the engine block. The front bearing is often the most worn and can be replaced without removing the engine from the car.
