Gearbox Volvo 240/260 (BW55 Automatic)

Leaking seals, sluggish shifts or a stiff lever are classic symptoms of a worn BW55 automatic in a Volvo 240/260. This category gathers wear and sealing parts for that specific gearbox, so you can replace individual components instead of the whole unit.

The group includes gaskets and O-Rings for tight joints, dipstick tubes that easily rust or crack at the mounting point, as well as internal parts such as gears, pistons, locking pins and spring kits for the vent housing and servos. Screws for installation are also included.

When rebuilding, the seals around the sump and the servo piston O-Rings are typical check points – leakage here often results in low oil pressure and delayed engagement. Also check the control cable and the gear selector's function before condemning the hydraulics, since a sluggish shift may just as easily be caused by a misadjusted cable.
