Loose play in the selector, a position that won't quite engage, or a P-lock that hangs up often comes from worn parts in the control itself – not in the AW70 box. When bushings and insulators dry out, the play in the linkage grows and gear selection becomes vague.

This category gathers control parts that fit the Volvo 240 with AW70 automatic up to and including 1990. The group includes bushings, springs and insulators that dampen and guide the movement, levers and locking brackets in the mechanism, plus gear shift lever knobs, screws and nuts for installation. When rebuilding the selector mechanism, the bushings and return spring are typical checkpoints – replace them at the same time and the lever regains a clear, defined position between the steps. Also check the insulators for rust and play before condemning the entire control.
