Whining bearings, jumping gears or a leaking oil cover are typical signs that an M46 gearbox in a Volvo 240/260 needs to be gone through internally. Once the gearbox is split, it's the small details that decide whether the rebuild lasts — worn roller bearings, tired lock rings and worn synchros and gears.

This group includes parts used when disassembling and reassembling the M46: gears and reverse gears, clutch sleeves, roller bearings, lock rings, shims for axial play, plus gaskets and plugs. The shims deserve extra attention, since the right shims control the axial play and extend the life of the new bearings. Remember to check shaft play and gasket surfaces before the gearbox is put back together.
The parts are gathered for manual M46 gearboxes in the 240 and 260 series. Always check your own gearbox's markings against the part's design before ordering.
